My Fair Isle Journey is a collaborative pattern book between amirisu and their long-time friend and Fair Isle knitting instructor, Yuco Sakamoto. Yuco is a passionate knitter who has spent the last 25 years mastering and teaching Fair Isle knitting.

In this book Yuko shares her Fair Isle journey and how it became her life’s work, culminating in her recent pilgrimage to the Shetland Islands.

Along with stunning imagery of daily life in the Shetland Islands, Yuko’s book includes all the Fair Isle basics to get you started, discussing Shetland yarns, colours, floats and demystifying the elusive Fair Isle steek.

For this collection Yuko presents 12 knitwear designs - two sweaters, three cardigans, three vests, and four accessories, all using traditional Fair Isle techniques.
